The piece discusses past efforts and future perspectives on the search for a universal language of the cosmos. Recent efforts suggest that we need to put ourselves in the position of the other: we need to become aliens.
This essay is a part of our ongoing artist-research project Exoplantary Poetry that we conducting in the framework of the Cosmic Consciousness artist residency of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) institute.
