Super proud that my episode “Wahlkampf” (Election Day) for of Rabbit Academy – The Series was nominated for the Juliane Bartel Medienpreis 2026!
The award recognizes outstanding work promoting gender equality in media productions in Germany and is given out by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Social Affairs, Women, Family and Health.
The jury writes:
“The episode tackles a major social issue in a charming and child-friendly way, using the small-scale setting of a school election. Kela is running against Anton for the role of student representative and wants to make sure that, at the school festival, there is no longer any distinction between “boys’ tasks” and “girls’ tasks.” While Kela is rather shy and reserved, Anton even goes so far as to secretly buy votes.
In standing up to him, Kela discovers for herself just how difficult it can be to defend your beliefs. With great sensitivity, the story explores gender equality while also conveying an equally important message about fairness, honesty, and courage.”
The award will be presented in November. Fingers crossed!
